intestinal malabsorption

Post a new topicby demosthenes on Thu Sep 04, 2008 3:12 pm

I have been unwell for many years, only recentley diagnosed with secondary h,which is being caused by a unexplained malabsorption syndrome.I have undergone colonoscopies, small bowel biopsies,pill-cam,double balloon enteroscopy, all were normal.A c.t scan showed a small gallbladder polyp, ultrasound showed 3 small gallstones.A 72 hour fecal fat test showed elevated fat levels at (11).I must take mega doses of calcium carbonate(3000 mg) and(3000mg) of vitamin d,this tends to normalize my oth levels,I have tried pancreatic supplements,no indication of celiac disease, have tried gluten free diet.Symptoms include fatigue, malaise, weight loss, abdominal cramps, muscle and joint pains,I was wondering if anyone would have any insight on this.
