I'm a 38/F who has constipation problems for years. Has gotten worse with back pain medication, if stool left in intestines for a long period of time example: 2 to 3 years with a rare success of bowel movement. Can the stool left in cause cancer in anyway? Would appreciate any suggestions that you may have to help this long time problem.

I am female 37 and was diagnosed 6 years ago with colon cancer that had spread to the liver. One of my symptoms was constipation along with blood in stool. To be on the safe side I would get a colonoscopy if you see any blood in stool. Wish I had done it earlier as I am still battling this cancer today.
