colon cancer

Post a new topicby whitewater61 on Fri Sep 14, 2007 1:17 pm

I have the following: COPD, Congestive Heart Failure, Diabetes had an appendectomy 8 months ago, am 63 years old, I am 6'4" and weigh 293, blood pressure 106/56 with 107 pulse. Am on oxygen at 2psi at rest and 4psi exertion.

I am showing blood in my stool, and some discomfort around my anus. My doctor says that he would like to do an colonestomy (spelling?) but because of my lungs and heart condition is not sure that I would really make it through going under, and then if I do make it and they find cancer would I make it through surgery.

My question is really what to do, I am hesistant to go through any procedure where I may not wake up but is there any alternative. Would losing weight help, a change in diet?? I am looking for some opinions.

losing weight might help but that may take sometime so you need to discuss with your doctor the benefit of taking time to lose weight versus getting a diagnosis.
