My Dad is 64, he suffered a stroke last yr. on July 13th, soon after he went in for a G-tube so that he may be fed through a tube in the stomach. However, while doing the endoscopy the DR. discovered his cancer. He has been going to chemotherapy but it has not helped him since he continues to loose weight. in one month he went from 99lb. to 88lb. Hello, Im happy to say that I thought we would have lost my Mother by now. But we havent she is doing great. I dont want to seem like Im patting myself on the back. But I cant help but think my efforts to make nutritious meals is helping her. I dont believe that she and my Dad were eating healthy at all. And they sometimes want to slip back into that even after all we have been through. I just keep adding bell peppers and spinach and making sure we have orange juice in the house as a priority. Im convinced it is building up her immune system to keep the cancer in remission. Also I believe because I am my Moms companion it keeps her mind stimulated and keeps her from slipping into depression. It has been 2 years since I had to call 911 and she was rushed to the hospital. It has been the most difficult thing to go through for her and I. But thankfully I have my Dad to help and she has been able to remain in the home rather than a nursing home. I have heard so many upsetting things about stomach cancer but my Mom is proof that you can survive it. Im really angry that the hospital doesnt even talk about nutrition when they release people who have been through chemo. If your Dad has you he will do well. It can be tough on a family to go through this. But if you feel your parent deserves everything you can give them to get better they can make it. My Mom deserves it and Im sure your Dad does too!
