Ulcerative Colitis No Remission

Post a new topicby garnetgleams on Sat Oct 03, 2009 12:19 am

I am a 47 y/o female with ulcerative colitis that began 3 years ago when I had a "widowmaker" heart attack and quit smoking. I have daily diarreha (up to 6 or 7 times a day) and bleeding every day. I have never had a remission since this started. Does anyone else out there identify with this predicament? I take Lialda 4grams per day and Immodium as needed. Tried to go to Remicade or other IV treatment, but suffer from heart failure and am not eligible. I am trying to keep working full time and living some kind of normal life, but that is getting harder every day. Any support would be appreciated.

Try eating a Paleolithic diet, this helps me enormously. Specifically you want the paleo diet for autoimmunity, you can google it. It will help your colitis - it does mine and will probably help with your heart problems too, its certainly worth a try.
